IMPORTANT NOTICE: The flu shots will not be available for the upcoming
Anchorage (Nov 4) General Membership meeting due
to the shortage of the flu vaccination.
According to an recent article in USA Today, health officials recommend
that only people in the following categories be given priority in
receiving flu shots:
- All children 6-23 months old.
- Adults 65 or older.
- People 2-64 with underlying chronic medical conditions.
- All women who will be pregnant during the flu season.
- Residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
- Children 6 months to 18 years old on chronic aspirin therapy.
- Health care workers involved in direct patient care.
- Out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of children under 6
months old.
The article also reported that the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention says if people in these recommended "priority groups" find
that their own doctors do not have access to the flu vaccine, they
should look for other sources in their communities. |
